Why Filling Trials Matter for Pet Toothpaste and Gel

Filling is where a formula becomes a saleable unit. A product can pass a bench review and still create air pockets, unstable fill weights or poor seals on the line.

Bulk flow must suit the equipment

Paste and gel products move differently through the hopper, hose and filling nozzle. The team checks whether the bulk feeds evenly, whether air can be removed and whether the line can maintain the target weight.

Nozzle size changes the result

A narrow nozzle may create pressure, stringing or slow filling. A large nozzle may reduce control for small packs. The filling nozzle and consumer dispensing nozzle are separate decisions, but both must suit the product viscosity.

Air pockets affect weight and appearance

Trapped air can create inconsistent fills and an uneven first use. Process control, deaeration and filling settings should be reviewed together rather than corrected only by increasing nominal fill weight.

Sealing must be checked after filling

For tubes, inspect the tail seal, contamination at the seal area and finished-pack appearance. For pumps or syringes, check closure fit, priming and leakage. The trial should use the intended production components whenever possible.
