MARKET & CLAIMS GUIDE
Pet Oral Care Claims and Market Review
Claim wording is part of product development—not decoration added after the formula and packaging are finished.
Start with the intended consumer promise
Define the product role in plain language: routine oral hygiene, breath-freshening support, brushing assistance or a convenient application format. This helps align formula, instructions, evidence and packaging copy.
Separate cosmetic-support language from treatment language
Statements that imply prevention, cure or treatment can change the regulatory position of a product. Do not assume the same wording is acceptable in the United States, European Union, United Kingdom or another market.
Build a claim file
- Final approved formula and specification
- Ingredient and supplier documents
- Stability and compatibility information appropriate to the project
- Directions, warnings and species statement
- Support for each material product claim
Review the whole presentation
Claims can appear in the product name, icons, before-and-after visuals, FAQs, listings and advertising—not only on the back label. The product page and marketplace listing should follow the same claim boundaries as the package.
Use a staged workflow
Screen the claim direction early, review it again when the formula and packaging are defined, and conduct final market review before print approval. This reduces late artwork changes.
